Hyderabad: Union minister of state for home G. Kishan Reddy on Saturday severely criticised the state government with respect to issues related to the Metro Rail project. He charged the state government with deliberately holding back on extending Metro Rail services to the Old City.
Mr Reddy, who chaired a review on the functioning of Metro Rail with the officials, raised serious objections with the government for completely avoiding any mention of the Centre’s contribution to the project at the recent inauguration of the third Metro corridor between Jubilee and Mahatma Gandhi bus stations. The line was inaugurated on February 7 by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
The minister said the Centre had contributed rS 1,200 crore for the project but there was no mention of this either before, during or after the February 7 inauguration. The state government had turned it into a TRS party affair, he said.
He also raised objections over protocol violations, for not being invited to the event despite being a union minister representing the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency, where the JBS Metro rail station is located.
