Hyderabad: Four puppies were burnt to death and two others survived with burns at Suryanagar, Sainikpuri, on Saturday.
The incident occurred when workers at a construction site set fire to some bushes to clear the place.
The puppies were hiding in the bushes which was apparently not noticed by the workers.
According to Arun, a resident in the area, it was only when some of the puppies caught fire and ran out yelping in pain that they were noticed.
“Many of us ran out to see what the noise was about but their mother would not let anyone get close to them. But she managed to rescue two of her pups,” he said.
Compassionate Society for Animals representative Nagam Pravalika said, “it is a heart-breaking incident. Although they say they were not aware that the pups are inside the bushes, the workers should have checked.”
