1.1 kg smuggled gold seized at city airport

CISF officers said their surveillance and intelligence staff spotted a man behaving suspiciously.

Hyderabad: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has arrested a person for smuggling 1,100 grams of gold at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad on Saturday.

CISF officers said their surveillance and intelligence staff spotted a man behaving suspiciously. After tracking the movement of the person, CISF intelligence constable L. Ramesh intercepted and questioned him.

The person identified himself as Senthil Kumar, resident of Pudukkottai in Tamil Nadu. He had landed in the city from Singapore on Saturday around 1.10 am by Scoot Airlines Flight TR574.

Subsequently, Senthil Kumar was frisked by CISF intelligence constable K.V. Rama Rao, who found four packets of gold paste concealed on his body, the AIU official said.

Two packets of 200 gm each were retrieved from his socks and another two packets of 350 gm each were found in his underwear, officials said.
