Vijayawada: Dharna against AP Speaker, son

The police said that Section 30 and Section 144 of the Act were in force in town and hence no one would be allowed to conduct protests.

Vijayawada: The political parties barring Telugu Desam staged ‘Save Sattenapalli’ dharna at Sattenapalli of Guntur district on Friday. The YSR Congress, Jana Sena, CPI, CPM and other political parties had given the ‘Save Sattenappali’ dharna call against the illegalities of AP Assembly Speaker K. Sivaprasada Rao and his son who is also a Telugu Desam leader K. Sivaram.

Mr Sivaprasada Rao was elected to the Assembly on TD ticket from Sattenapalli Assembly constituency in the year 2014 elections.

The political leaders alleged that as per the direction of Mr Sivaprasada Rao, his son Mr Sivaram was robbing money by doing illegalities and collecting money forcibly from the public.

The political parties demanded that Sattenapalli should be saved from the clutches of “father and son”. But the police objected to the dharna and removed the tent claiming no permission was given for the protest.

The police said that Section 30 and Section 144 of the Act were in force in town and hence no one would be allowed to conduct protests.

The leaders gathered and started a protest at Taluka Centre of Sattenapalli with activists airing slogans against Mr Sivaprasada Rao and Mr Sivaram.

After some time the police rushed to the spot, foiled their agitation by arresting leaders and activists and shifting them to different police stations.

YSRC state official spokesperson Ambati Rambabu, Jana Sena coordinator Baira Deelip, CPI Sattenapalli Assembly constituency secretary Nariseti Venugopal, CPM leader Gadde Chalamaiah and activists staged a protest refusing to go to the Sattenapalli police station. But the police forcibly shifted the leaders to Krosuru police station.
