Kakka Muttai movie inspires mobile snatching
Chennai: The award-winning movie ‘Kakka Muttai’ had a heart wrenching and inspiring theme but three juvenile delinquents chose to borrow a little piece of villainy from it to make money the easy way.
They adopted the same trick to rob a passenger speaking on his mobile phone by hitting his hand with a stick as his train passed by at Tiruvottiyur station near here on Thursday.
In the movie, three young rascals wanting to make some quick money use a long stick to hit anyone seen speaking on mobile while standing near the entrance of the compartment in a moving train. The shocked passenger would drop the phone in pain and the fellows standing below on the ground fled with the booty. Taking inspiration from this, three juvenile criminals targeted a man travelling by the Tamil Nadu Express, who was speaking on his mobile while standing at the entrance of his compartment. The fellows stationed themselves at a spot close to the tracks where all the north-bound trains from Chennai slowed down for changing tracks.
Victim Gokularaman dropped his phone after being sharply hit on the wrist but the young man did not lose his cool. He quickly jumped out of the moving train and getting into an autorickshaw, gave a chase to nab the three thieves. They were handed over at the Tiruvottiyur police station, where the inspector on duty congratulated Gokul as well as the good Samaritan auto-man Mohammed Asif.
