Corrupt practices alleged in recruitment of Tanuvas profs
Chennai: In the wake of recent cases of allegations of corruption on vice-chancellors of universities, the Tamil Nadu Veterinary Graduates Federation has alleged of corrupt practices in the recruitments of assistant professors in various departments of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Tanuvas).
Tamil Nadu Veterinary Graduates Federation has written a letter to the Governor seeking the intervention of the authority at Tanuvas, now headless without a vice-chancellor.
Alleging the recruitments of more than 250 assistant professors in various departments of the university to be unconstitutional and legally invalid, M. Balaji, co-ordinator, Tamilnadu Veterinary Graduates Federation, has urged an auditing against the irregularities and violations in the assistant professor recruitment drives of Tanuvas Chennai for the period from 2011 to 2017.
“We alleged that the marks awarded (using pencil) while interview process was altered on finalizing their preplanned selection list. In the last recruitment done in 2017 former VC neglected the directions provided by the principal secretary for animal husbandry department and hiding or diverting facts in the Madurai bench of Madras high court while this dispute under sub judice,” he said.
The federation further alleged that all recruitments in Tanuvas have appointed the teaching staff by well-organized malpractices during the tenures of previous vice-chancellors of the mentioned period who did not publish the details on the marks scored by the successful and participated candidates in the university website.
The federation also made allegations regarding deviation in reservation policy (69% quota) of TN government stating that Tanuvas higher officials and university board of management are utilizing their discretionary powers to discriminate the opportunities of the ST and DA (differently-abled) candidates in previous recruitments, which is against to the reservation policies of the state government.
