VK Sasikala to be ordinary jail inmate
Bengaluru: Ms V.K. Sasikala, while surrendering before the magistrate at the court in Parapanna Agrahara, made two requests: that since she is an income tax payee, she be given special consideration in the prison and that her medicines be given regularly.
The magistrate reportedly told her that the prison authorities will go as per the prison manual. Director General of Police, Prisons, H.N.S. Rao, said that Ms Sasikala has been lodged at the Bengaluru Central prison.
The AIADMK general secretary is prisoner number 9234 and said she wanted to stay with Ilavarsi, prisoner number 9235, in a two-occupancy cell.
“She will be treated like any other woman convict and will be provided jail food. Her routine will require her to take up some skill-oriented job like embroidery, weaving and gardening for which she will be paid nominal wages. “She will be provided with two white saris with blue border in a couple of days,” said an official source.
She will be allowed to meet her lawyers. However, any other visitor will have to seek permission from the jail authorities.
