Mysuru: Under constant attack from the opposition, Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah has swapped his costly wrist watch and sunglasses for a modest watch and sun-glasses.

Before appearing in public on Monday in Mysuru, he told Deccan Chronicle that he got the costly watch from a friend. He did not disclose the name of the friend but said he would do so at an appropriate time.

Mr Siddaramaiah was speaking to Deccan Chronicle early morning at his residence in Sharadadevinagar, here.

Asked about his intensive tour of Mysuru district, he said, “Owing to health issues, District in-charge minister Mr V. Srinivasprasad could not take up the ZP poll campaign in the district. Also after I came to power, I did not have an opportunity to tour the district. So I am touring the place now,” he said.

When asked why he was not seeking votes in his name and instead asking for votes for the party, he said, “We are asking voters to strengthen the party, if the party is strengthened, we will also gain strength,” he said.

Meanwhile Mr Siddaramaiah who was scheduled to tour HD Kote taluk on Monday, cancelled his visit as the taluk was in mourning because the body of Siachen Sepoy P.N. Mahesh a native of H.D. Kote was expected to reach the place.

A few party workers were seen expressing displeasure over not been given tickets, while some approached the CM for transfers, some for seats in schools for the next academic year and some even wanted a convention centre in their village.
