Income survey on cards in Andhra Pradesh
Vijayawada: The government would conduct a comprehensive survey to find out the social and financial condition of all the castes in Andhra Pradesh. Assuring the people of Valmeekee-Boya community of inclusion in the ST quota list , Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu here on Monday said the government would conduct the comprehensive income survey to provide benefits to people of all castes based on their population in the society.
A delegation, led by chief whip Kaalva Srinivasulu, met Mr Naidu and requested him to include the Vaalmeeke-Boyas in the STs like in Karnataka. Mr Srinivasulu also reminded the chief minister of including the issue in the TD manifesto. “Forming a commission or passing a Cabinet resolution is sufficient to fulfil the promise now,” he said. The CM said the government would do justice to all sections of the people and also made it clear that he would not tolerate any violence in the name of caste, region and religion as it would stall investments, employment and development of the state.
Later, representatives of Muslim community also met Mr Naidu and he promised to set up a committee to look into providing 5 per cent quota for them. The Muslims also requested the CM to allot Rs 1,000 crore for them in the next Budget and also appoint an Waqf Board.
