Driving licence, RC book on mobile app soon in Andhra Pradesh
The tool helps drivers; no need to carry the documents with them.

Rajahmundry: On the lines of the TS government, the AP government is coming up with a mobile application to accept the soft copies of driving licence of the driver and registration certificate of a vehicle on smartphones.
Right now, police and road transport officials insist on the motorist producing the original hard copies of the driving licence and RC books during checking of vehicles.
Under the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act, any failure to do so will result in imposing penalty. Officials do not accept photostat copies of such documents.
Once the mobile application is developed, drivers need not carry the documents with them. They have to download the app on their mobilephone and upload the documents on it.
They can show the documents on the mobile phone when asked by police and transport officers. A road transport official said the mobile app is part of the BJP-led NDA government's Digi-tal India initiative.
It will require an amendment to Section 130 of the MV Act which deals with production of original documents during inspection.
The MV Act falls under co-current list in which both the Centre and state government have a say, either independently or together. It remains to be seen whether the state government develops the app itself or together with the Centre.
Sources said the state government can develop the app either by engaging a private software firm or by involving the IT wing of transport department.
RTA deputy transport commissioner (IT) Ramasri said, “developing a mobile application to accept soft copies of driving licence and RC book is still at the discussion stage with the government. It will take some time to finalise it.”
