Rangoli habba clears many blackspots
Bengaluru: BBMP’s rangoli drive to get rid of blackspots in the city is drawing a good response. Hundreds of pourakarmikas gathered near infamous black spots dotting in their respective areas, cleared them, and drew rangolis over them to celebrate Sankranthi.
In many places, local political leaders joined hands with the pourakarmikas to eliminate black spots and handed them goodies for the festival. While in some areas the pourakarmikas went solo.
On Twitter, Avinash Gowda M. tweeted a photo of a pourakarmika standing next to an erstwhile black spot and rangoli drawn over it. He had remarked, “Gangaraju an employee of BBMP. His job is just to clean the garbage from street, but he went one step ahead and he found unique way to educate people not to through garbage in public place. This shows how ‘swacha bharath’ is working.”
A BBMP official maintained that the Rangoli Habba had witnessed a good response and they have cleared many blackspots in the city with the help of pourakarmikas and the volunteers of a NGO The Ugly Indian.
They said they will release the number of blackspots cleared after the conclusion of the habba on January 25.
