Chennai: The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) will operate special buses connecting various tourist spots including Vandalur zoo, Marina and Guindy Park on Kaanum Pongal day, where thousands of people throng during the festival. “Additional number of buses have been accommodated at Anna Square, Vandalur zoo, Kovalam, Mahabalipuram, Kishkintha, Queensland, Besant Nagar, Broadway, Tambaram and Thiruvanmiyur to cater to the additional rush,” said an official from MTC.
Apart from the tourist destinations, special buses have also been announced from Tollgate, Avadi, Ayappanthangal, Adyar, Perumbakkam, Kelambakkam, Kannagi Nagar, Red Hills, Kannadasan Nagar, Koyambedu, Vadapalani and Poonamallee among others.
Also, special buses are to be operated from Perungalathur and Central railway station to help passengers returning from their native places after Pongal holidays. The buses will be operated from 3.30 am.
