Central Team Surveys Drought Impact in Nandyal,Assesses Crop Damage

Officials from the central government evaluate drought conditions in Nandyal, inspecting crop damage and meeting local officials.

Kurnool: A central team visited Nandyal district to see around the areas affected by drought. Three officials from the central government closely observed and evaluated the drought conditions in various parts of the district.

The team consisted of Anuradha Batana, senior research officer at NITI Aayog; R Santosh, assistant adviser from the department of drinking water and sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti; and Sangeet Kumar, under secretary from the department of food and public distribution.

The team visited various mandals in the district and observed the damage to crops of redgram, cotton, sorghum, maize, castor etc. They also were treated to a photo exhibition in RS Rangapuram village of Bethamcherla mandal of Nandyal district about the damage to crops.

District in-charge collector Rahul Reddy met the central team at the government guest house in Nandyal.

District revenue officer Pullaiah, MPP Buggana Nagabhushan Reddy, DWMA project director Ramachandra Reddy, district agriculture officer Mohan Rao, district horticulture officer Nagaraju, officers of various departments, farmers and others were present.
