Omicron-positive man escapes from Hyderabad\'s private hospital, hunt on

Hyderabad: A 23 year old Somali national, who tested positive for the Omicron Covid variant, escaped from a private hospital in Somajiguda branch on Wednesday. He tested positive for Omicron on Tuesday night.

The young man has been described as a student, who arrived in the city from Somalia on December 12.

After being alerted to the disappearance of the Somali man from the hospitals, health department officials immediately alerted the Hyderabad city police. The Task Force staff and officials are scouring the city to trace and take the man back for isolation and treatment. When and if found, the person will be taken to the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences to be lodged in the special Omicron ward set up in the hospital.

With the health department providing information on the address of residence provided by the Somali national, the police have currently focused their search for the missing Omicron positive person in the Tolichowki and Mehdipatnam areas. The police teams have been provided with a picture of the missing man.

Efforts are also on to trace and contact the persons the missing Somali national may have come into contact with before his admission to the private hospital in Somajiguda.
