IPS probationer is suspended

trouble started between the couple as Maheswara Reddy was not willing to live with her, according to Ms Birudula.

Hyderabad: The Union ministry of home affairs has issued suspension orders to Indian Police Service (IPS) probationer K.V. Maheswara Reddy on a complaint filed by his wife Bhavana Birudula who accused him of cheating her.

A resident of Hyderabad, Ms Birudula had complained against the officer in the Jawaharnagar police station for cruelty, causing hurt and criminal intimidation (Sections 498A, 323 and 506 of Indian Penal Code).

Incidentally, Mr Maheswara Reddy and Ms Birudula, a resident of ECIL, were students of Osmania University and had fallen in love on the campus.

Her parents were aware of their marriage but Maheswara Reddy’s parents were not. Maheswara Reddy hails from Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh and cleared Union Public Service Commission exams earlier this year. He then began training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Police Academy.

After that, trouble started between the couple as he was not willing to live with her, according to Ms Birudula. There were constant arguments between the couple, Ms Birudula alleged. Her family finally lodged a complaint with the police which led to the inquiry.

Maheshwara Reddy’s offer of appointment has been cancelled and criminal proceedings will be carried out against him. His offer of appointment to the police will also be reviewed according to the order of the ministry.
