Vijayawada to be made safer for girls: DCP B Rajakumari
Vijayawada: The aim of the Vijayawada city police is to ensure the city become free of tears for women, said DCP B. Rajakumari on Friday. Ms Rajakumari participated in the concluding session of the self-defence training programme at the Montessori Women’s College in the city.
Addressing the gathering, she appreciated the Vasavya Mahila Mandali for the initiative to train women and girls in self-defence.
Ms Rajakumari said the self-defence training will improve the confidence of the girls in the present society and they should learn to face sudden attacks like chain snatching, rape attempt by anti-social elements.
The DCP appreciated instructors N. Lakshmi Samrajyam and Ravi the founder and chief coach of Rudrama Devi Self Defence Academy.
Vasavya Mahila Mandali secretary G. Rashmi said so far, many as 150 trainers were given training at various campus and at AG&SG college campus Vuyyuru. These 150 trainers will train girl students of various colleges and schools in the Vijayawada commissionerate limits with the support of Rudrama Devi Self Defence Academy, Podili, Prakasam district.
Ms Lakshmi Samrajyam and Mr Ravi had trained members of Mahila Mitra and Mahila Mitra coordinators in self-defence and also taught them how to prevent attacks.
