Fake bills scam: Karnataka High Court notice to Muniratna Naidu

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Friday issued emergent notice to MLA Muniratna Naidu, following a public interest litigation (PIL) that challenged the dropping of his name from a chargesheet filed by the Lokayukta police. The case pertains to BBMP fake bills scam that broke out in 2004 and the PIL had questioned the deletion of the name of Rajarajeshwari Nagar MLA. Muniratna, a former BBMP corporator, got caught up in the scam when a Lokayukta raid found 800 official

BBMP files in a house registered in his wife Manjula’s name. At least 10 persons, including Muniratna, his wife and several BBMP officials had been named in the FIR. Muniratna and his wife were also named in the chargesheet initially filed in March this year. But their names were subsequently dropped and they were not even considered as witnesses in the scam.
