Jisha murder case: Kerala DGP Loknath Behera to seek rewards for probe team

He would recommend to the government to give rewards to the members of the special team that probed the case.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State police chief Loknath Behera said that the Jisha murder case was the victory of the Kerala police’s team work and not of any individuals. He also told reporters here on Thursday that he would recommend to the government to give rewards to the members of the special team that probed the case. Even as Mr. Behera highlighted the scientific evidence that became crucial in the case, he evaded queries on whether the initial investigation that faced criticisms of lapses in the probe had collected crucial evidence that eventually helped the case.

“I do not want to comment on any controversies. It is the victory of team work of the Kerala police and not that of any individuals. It is also a victory of scientific evidence. We need to stress the role scientific evidence plays in all such probes,” Mr Behera said. It may be recalled that lapses were alleged against the initial investigation team of the case and the team was revamped immediately after the LDF came to power.
