Bengaluru: Depressed techie ends life
Bengaluru: A 32-year-old software engineer committed suicide due to depression by hanging himself to the ceiling on Wednesday night at his residence in Vijayanagar police station limits.
The deceased had been identified as Harsh Shetty, a resident of Prashanthnagar and worked at a private company as a software engineer.
He got married three years ago and had a two-year old daughter.
According to the police, Harsh was in depression from many years as his mother and his aunts died due to cancer and now his sister was in the final stage of the disease and was undergoing treatment at Manipal hospital in Udupi.
The doctors had informed him that she would not survive. On Wednesday night before committing suicide, he spoke to his wife and told her that he was worried about his sister’s 11-year-old son and his guardianship.
While his wife was putting her daughter to sleep, he locked himself in the next room and hung himself to the ceiling fan.
His wife who heard a noise from the next room rushed to the spot, with the help of her neighbors she opened the door and rushed him to the nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. The Vijayanagar police have registered a case.
