No entry to miracle tree for devotees

Bhopal: A day after a frenzied mob clashed with police over being denied entry into the buffer zone of Satpura Tiger Reserve (STR) in Madhya Pradesh’s Hosangabad district to ‘embrace’ a ‘Mahua’ plant believing it has healing power, local administration on Thursday imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 in the area to prevent people from worshipping it.

The local administration imposed prohibitory orders in the forested village of Nayagaon which had suddenly turned a pilgrim centre.

“Section 144 was imposed in the area to stop the people from worshipping the tree”, sub-divisional officer of STR Lokesh Nirapure who visited the spot told this newspaper.
