Honour Supreme Court directive on loan waivers: P Ayyakannu

Ayyakannu’s appeal to CM Edappadi

TIRUCHY: The ‘Desiya Then Indhiya Nathigal Inaippu Vivasayeegal Sangam’ has appealed to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to take steps to honor the Supreme Court’s direction to waive outstanding crop loans of medium and marginal farmers.

In a statement here on Thursday, Sangam's state president P. Ayyakannu said they have decided to meet the Chief Minister to submit a memorandum to him in this regard on November 18.

He warned that if the Tamil Nadu government did not consider the Supreme court's ruling it will reflect on the ruling party's performance in the ensuing local bodies elections.

He also pointed out that they planned to hold a demonstration at Mullaiperiyar in Kerala demanding to merge Kerala's Idukki district with Tamil Nadu besides solving the Mullaiperiyar river water and 58th canal dispute permanently in order to prevent the suicidal incidents of the farmers of Theni, Madurai, Dindigul, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Tirunelveli and Virudhunagar districts of Tamil Nadu.

He said it was highly condemnable that the nationalised bank authorities were refusing to grant crop loans, educational loans, and self-employment loan assistance to the needy despite the Union Finance Minister Ms. Nirmala Seetharaman's announcement.
