Hyderabad: 20 booked for rioting in Suryapet district

Hyderabad: A total 20 people were booked under rioting charges in Raghunadhapalem village in Suryapet district on Wednesday, the police said.

On October 21, an eight-year-old boy named Ajay who was playing around the transformer accidentally came in to contact with the transformer and sustained severe injuries resulting in the amputation of his hand.

Police said the trouble started after the concerned officials decided to construct a wall separating the transformer from the people.

Mattampally sub-inspector B. Ranjith said, “The officials asked the shop owners who were served the notice to vacate their building in two weeks time as it was behind the transformer and it was obstructing the construction of the wall. One of the shop owners named Narasimha Rao, member of the TRS party, denied to vacate the building with a group supporting him while another group affiliated with the Congress opposing him.”

The police have registered a case on 20 members belonging to the two groups.
