Dr G Parameshwar, Dinesh Gundu Rao defend action against journalist
Bengaluru: Defending the state government's decision to arrest journalist Santhosh Thammaiah for his controversial remarks against Tipu Sultan, KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao wondered how the government could be at fault for arresting someone who was intentionally trying to disturb communal harmony.
“The state government will definitely act against those who try to disturb communal harmony. There is no question of any embarrassment for the government in this episode. Our political rivals are trying to make an issue of it,” he told the media here on Wednesday. While reacting on the same issue, deputy chief minister, Dr G. Parameshwara, said “Yes, I had directed the police to maintain a strict vigil on those who try to instigate or disturb peace or communal harmony. If someone has made any statement that is not in the interest of the state's peace atmosphere, we will arrest a such person, he added.
