Welfare of children is AP's priority: Paritala Sunitha
Vijayawada: Minister Paritala Sunitha said sons and daughters should be treated equally and encouraged in games and extra-curricular activities.
She participated in the Children's Day programme held here under the aegis of the women and child welfare department on the occasion of the first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru's 128th birth anniversary on Tuesday. "The government developed anganwadi centres to ensure proper nutrition to the kids," she said.
Due to the encouragement of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, 90 lakh Dwcra women have become financially stable, she said.
The state government introduced 'Anna Amrutha Hastam' to provide nutritious food from third month of pregnancy till the baby attains 3 months. Balamrutam is aimed at providing nutritious food to children.
ZP chief Gadde Anuradha, SPPCR chairperson Hymavathi, VMC mayor Koneru Sridhar, secretary K. Sunitha, women and child welfare department, commissioner H. Arun Kumar, district collector B. Lakshmikantham, ICDS, PD Krishna Kumari also attended the programme. Tributes were paid to the portrait of Jawaharlal Nehru.
