Bungalow ready for HD Kumaraswamy to revive party in North Karnataka

The housewarming ceremony will be held on November 18 in the presence of Mr Kumaraswamy and his family.

Hubballi: After weeks of careful search, JD(S) leaders have finally chosen a palatial mansion in Bhairidevarakoppa that satisfies vaastu requirements for party chief and former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy, who plans to camp here for at least 10 days every month to revive the party in North Karnataka ahead of the next Assembly elections.

The over 6,000 square feet bungalow, belonging to a cousin brother of Higher Education Minister, Basavaraj Rayareddy, is also considered suitable as it is situated near a bypass road and is free from any disturbance. The housewarming ceremony will be held on November 18 in the presence of Mr Kumaraswamy and his family.

“We have finalized the bungalow on the advice of vaastu experts. It is spacious with a beautiful auditorium that has a seating capacity for a 100 and four bedrooms,” said local JD(S) leader Rajanna Koravi.

Mr Kumaraswamy is expected to use the bungalow as his base while he tours the region , focusing on issues of the farmer community such as the Mahadayi water dispute and the sugarcane price. The move is expected to help the party build its presence in North Karnataka, which it has by and large ignored over the years, leading to desertion by many of its leaders, who joined Congress and BJP during the previous Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

The fact that neither Mr Kumaraswamy, nor party supremo H.D. Deve Gowda bothered to campaign in the region during these polls had dampened the spirit of party workers.
