Amaravati is a delight, say 120 poets through prism of 120 poets

CM unveils an anthology of 535 poems by 53 poets from across the world.

VIJAYAWADA: Amaravati Poetic Prism, an international multilingual poetry festival, concluded in Vijayawada on Monday. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu felicitated poets who exhibited exemplary talent. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Naidu said that Amaravati is known for its literature since centuries and this was a new beginning to its legacy.

He unveiled an anthology of poems book comprising 535 poems by 53 poets from across the globe. The CM lauded the organisers for bringing poems in Koya, Gondi, Mythili, Dogri, Telugu, English, and Spanish languages. He appealed the organisers to bring the soft copies of the poems from next time. The mega poetic festival was attended by about 120 poets from across the country.

Perugu Ramakrishna, a famous poet from Nellore, said that this was unique experience and everyone was pleasantly surprised by it. He said the Indian poetry is vivid when compared to world poetry as our poets write on different subjects and contemporary issues. Mr Ramakrishna said it was heartening to see the younger generation writing poetry on various current issues. “These young people are modern with new expressions and language,” he noted.

Ratan Bhattacharjee from Kolkata said the Amaravati poetic prism is another beginning of poetic culture in the new capital of AP which was known for its legacy in literature long ago. “This festival will stand as an inspiration to creative minds,” he said and adding that the beauty of the festival is that the poets recited their own poems. “One can feel the real emotion of the poem in the poet’s voice and the physical interaction of the poets from various parts of the world will broaden thought process of everyone.”
