Siddaramaiah mismanaged Karnataka's finances: BS Yeddyurappa

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has pushed the Karnataka brink of bankruptcy following mismanagement of financial affairs.

Bengaluru: State BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa charged on Saturday that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has pushed the state brink of bankruptcy following mismanagement of financial affairs.

He told the media here that on June 21, 2017, the government has announced waiver of crop loan of the farmers, but till today the government has failed to release matching grant (crop loan amount) to co-operative societies. The government has completely failed to mobilize resources for loan waver amount of over Rs 8,000 crore, and therefore farmers have not been benefited from loan waver scheme and have not got fresh loan, he added.

He said since four-and-a-half years, farmers are facing problem due to drought. Revenue minister Kagodu Thimmappa admitted that only the Union government has released the amount to farmers, but state government has not released money to farmers. Interestingly, even after fresh loans, few farmers have committed suicide, he added. He charged that by September 30, the government had to reimburse Rs 2,500 crore to co-operative societies for waiver of crop loan, but it has not released single penny to the societies

Releasing a government communication to Mysuru Minerals Limited asking MML to deposit Rs14,000 crore in Apex Bank. In the letter to the MD of MML, Additional Chief Secretary of Finance department, stated that government has to reimburse the loan amount to cooperative banks, thus it has be reimbursed through deposits, stated in the letter.

But MML directors and its officers categorically stated that there were technical difficulties to deposit amount in Apex Bank, but the government pressured MML to deposit the amount in Apex Bank, Mr. Yeddyurappa added.
