Bengaluru: Temple priest Vasudev Bhat's body was fished out by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) nearly a kilometre away from his house at SVK Layout at Kurubarahalli, from where he got washed away on Friday.

NDRF personnel intensified the search along the storm water drain (SWD) after the incident. They were sure that the body may not have moved far as the SWD near Kurubarahalli is narrow. It was fished out near Kaverinagar by 11am on Saturday.

However, since the drains were narrow, NDRF personnel found it difficult to retrieve the body. The presence of hundreds of spectators made matters worse.

The body was later recovered and handed over to grieving relatives and friends.
