Trollers celebrate on social media on resignation of EP Jayarajan

Many felt that losing a minister within 150 days for alleged nepotism was not a matter to be proud of.

Kochi: Social media on Friday celebrated the resignation of CPM leader EP Jayarajan as the industries minister. Social media had gone berserk after reports emerged that relatives of EP Jayarajan were appointed in key posts in public sector companies.

People on social media earlier criticized the CPM for not taking action against the minister for nepotism and when he finally succumbed to the pressure, users trolled him.

Left supporters however were an elated lot as the party and Chief Minister Pinarayi VIjayan took a firm stand in ousting the erring minister.A majority of left supporters had criticized the leadership in the last few days for not taking action against the minister. BJP and UDF supporters too criticised the Pinarayi-led government. Many felt that losing a minister within 150 days for alleged nepotism was not a matter to be proud of.

Former UDF minister and Thrithala MLA V T Balram was criticised widely including by CPM supporters for his post “First wicket down?” Several posted statuses stating that Jayarajan did not cling to his post after nepotism allegations were levelled. “Balram has no right to post as he was part of the UDF ministry which protected several ministers”, they said.

Earlier, Jayarajan was in the news after his Muhammad Ali gaffe. Facebook users also created memes calling Jayarajan Chittappan (Uncle). Many commented ‘we will miss our Chittappan’.
