Chennai: TVK defies court orders against illegal banners
TIRUNELVELI: Volunteers and cadre of Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK), headed by former PMK MLA T Velmurugan, protested against the police and the Tirunelveli corporation officials removing the hoardings and flags illegally put up by them on Saturday, in compliance with the orders of the Madras High court.
The TVK on Saturday evening organised a public meeting at Melapalayam here. The enthused party cadres and local leaders put up hundreds of their party flags on either side of the Palayamkottai-Melapalayam road. They also put up hoardings at VST Mosque road junction where the meeting was held.
Members of the public were angered by this spectacle. One of them, speaking to DC said, “they (referring generally to all political parties) never care really about public convenience and their statements against setting up hoardings and flags along the roads cannot be relied upon.”
True to public opinion, the TVK cadre vehemently protested the corporation workers and police removing the banners illegally put up for their public meeting here.
