Telangana: Mohammed Saleem criticises officials

The officials are more interested in interacting with the media rather than focusing on work, said Mr Saleem.

Hyderabad: The rift between the officials of minorities welfare department and TS Wakf Board chairman Mohammed Saleem came to the fore on Thursday when the latter blamed the officials for not taking the government programmes to the public.

Mr Saleem, talking to the press persons on the sidelines of the board meeting, said the TRS government had brought out several schemes for the benefit of the community.

“The officials are unable to take it to the public and ensure that they derive its benefits. The officials are more interested in interacting with the media rather than focusing on work,” said Mr Saleem.

Although Mr Saleem did not name any official, an official with the minorities welfare department said he was reportedly not getting along well with senior officials of the department.

A few department officials said the chairman was not well versed with the functioning of the department and was interfering in the work.

“He is chairman of the Wakf Board but is making attempts to interfere with the work in other wings of the minorities welfare department,” an official said.
