Land survey today, officials told to go by the rulebook
Hyderabad: The state government has issued strict instructions to collectors and revenue staff to adhere to the Record of Rights (RoR) Act in letter and spirit while taking up survey and updating land records that begins across the state on Friday.
Officials have been told that any deviation would only result in more land disputes, rendering futile an exercise that is being taken up after eight decades to clean up land records.
Chief Secretary S.P. Singh issued instructions to officials and staff to be extra careful while updating the records and follow due procedure before making corrections on land ownership.
“The final list of land owners should be displayed in public village wise in all the districts. Officials should take the signature of each landowner on the final list to acknowledge their approval. Only after this should the records be updated and fresh pattadar passbooks issued,” Mr Singh said.
Officials should first distribute photocopies of land ownership recorded under 1(B) of the RoR Act, and seek changes or objections. If there are no disputes, the officials can go ahead with old records. In case of any dispute, officials should take up ground level survey, conduct inquiry and resolve the issue amicably.
The officials should release village wise schedule for survey in advance and make public announcements so that all land owners would be present in villages.
