Another team is reportedly grilling six associates of notorious rowdy sheeter, Kunigal Giri, who has more than 50 cases against him.

Bengaluru: The SIT officials probing the murder of eminent journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh have intensified the probe in all angles and questioned several reformed Naxals including Sirimane Nagaraj and Noor Sridhar.

Sources said the SIT was also questioning some rowdy elements, besides visiting jails and questioning those who were involved in similar cases.

“A team of officials are questioning reformed Naxals Nagaraj and Sridhar, as they were in contact with Ms. Lankesh. As we are also probing the Naxal angle to the murder, they are being questioned to ascertain whether any faction had hatred towards her. They are being questioned at an undisclosed location,” an official said.

Another team is reportedly grilling six associates of notorious rowdy sheeter, Kunigal Giri, who has more than 50 cases against him.

“As some of his associates were found loitering around Lankesh’s house on the day she was murdered, they have been picked up and are being grilled,” the official said.

“The CCTV camera had recorded their movements around the house. If necessary, Giri, who is lodged in jail, will also be taken into custody and interrogated,” added the official.

Further, it is learnt that the SIT sleuths have also visited Parappana Agrahara central prison and other prisons in the state and questioned some inmates, especially supari killers and sharp shooters.
