Hyderabad: Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday, reacting to the ongoing controversy over book written by Prof. Kancha Ilaiah on the Vysya community, said the government was against anyone trying to label an entire community based on the behaviour of few of its members.
This is the first reaction of the government to the week long controversy, and came after a representatives of the community met Mr Rao and sought banning of the publication.
Responding to this, Mr Harish Rao said: “There are good and bad people in every community, that doesn’t mean one should brand the entire community as bad.” He said the government was for peace and tranquillity, and it wanted that all communities lead a happy and peaceful life. He told the delegation that he would take the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister.
