Cantonment Metro: Centre to step in?

BMRCL Cantonment Metro station have claimed that the Centre has stepped in to resolve the matter.

Bengaluru: Citizen activists protesting against change in the alignment of BMRCL Cantonment Metro station have claimed that the Centre has stepped in to resolve the matter.

They said the Railway Board Chairman and Union Urban Development Minister Narendra Tomar have assured the activists and the ministry officials will be visiting the city soon.

"On September 10, the citizens groups met Union Minister Ananth Kumar to submit a MoU on retaining the Cantonment metro's original alignment in front of Cantonment Railway station. The Minister, he arranged a meeting between the campaigners Sanjeev Dyamnavar and Dr Samir Kagalkar with Urban Development Department and Railway board," they said.

They said the Minister has directed the Joint Secretary to visit Bengaluru to study the situation and submit a report soon, so that quick action may be initiated

Metro station to be 1.1 km away from Kadugodi bus depot
BMRCL has made several changes to the recently released geographic co-ordinate route map of Baiyappanahalli-Whitefield metro extension.

As per the map uploaded by BMRCL on its official website, the proposed Kadugodi depot at Whitefield is not shown, as it continues to remain deadlocked in land acquisition process. The line ends at Ujjval Vidyalaya metro station, which will be around 1.1 km away from Kadugodi bus station.

BMRCL is seeking Centre's approval to procure Kadugodi forest land for the same, and residents complain there would little integration as the metro station will be located away from Whitefield Railway station and Kadugodi bus stand.

K.R. Puram: Another ambiguity is the intersection of ORR rail cum road bridge line from Silk Board with the purple line at K.R. Puram. "The KR Puram railway station is more than 300 metres away from the proposed metro station. There needs to be a walkway for commuters," said Sanjeev Dyamnavar, Transport Expert, Praaja RAAG.
