Modi lauds engineers for pathbreaking innovations on Engineers Day
Engineers' Day is celebrated in several countries, in India it is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of M. Visvesvaraya.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted engineers on the occasion of Engineers Day.
In a tweet, Modi said, 'the intellect, dedication and curiosity of engineers has led to several path-breaking innovations'.
Modi also paid his tributes to Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya on his birth anniversary. He said, M Visvesvaraya is remembered and respected as a pioneer in his field and is regarded as the greatest Indian engineer.
Visvesvaraya received the Bharat Ratna in 1955 and was also knighted Commander of the Indian Empire by King George V for his contributions.
While Engineers' Day is celebrated in several countries in the world, in India it is celebrated on September 15 to mark the birth anniversary of the scholar.
