Revanth vows Rs 2 lakh loan waiver

Hyderabad: TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday criticised the state government for the four-year delay in waiving farm loans, and promised that the Congerss on coming to power in the upcomiing elections would waive crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh.

Speaking at an Independence Day-related event, Revanth Reddy said that the Congress would fill two lakh government jobs and subsidise LPG cylinders so that they are sold for Rs 500. He said the future Congress government would give Rs 5 lakh for poor landowners to construct their own houses.

“Let us fight and bring the Congress back to power,” Revanth Reddy said in a message to the Congress cadre.

Wading into the demand on the categorisation of SC reservations, following his meeting with MPRS leader Manda Krishna Madiga on Monday, Revanth Reddy said, “None can question our commitment to this demand. The SCs know what the Congress has done for them. We introduced reservations. Those who are seeking answers should question parties to which they extended support. We will deal with the issue shortly and introduce categorisation.”

Referring to the demand of Krishna Madiga, Revanth Reddy said, “Why is he not questioning the PM and KCR? Can they not hit the Assembly seeking fulfilment of this demand? Why not ask Kishan Reddy to present a Bill in parliament?”

On the government’s waiver of farm loans of up to Rs 99,999 on Monday, Revanth Reddy asked whether what was waived was the interest on the loan, as the farmers had to pay interest on the loan. He accused the Chief Minister of acquiring land assigned to Dalits and selling it to raise money to waive farm loans.

Accusing Chandrashekar Rao of poor policy planning, he said: “KCR is copying the promises of the Congress. He waived farmers loans, gave job notifications and is promising double bedrooms after we called him out on his failed promises. He has watered down the Aarogyasri scheme. Why did the BRS not give job notifications for the past nine years? The people are not going to believe KCR anymore.”

Earlier, speaking at the flag-hoisting ceremony, Revanth Reddy said, “The KCR government has indulged in corruption of Rs 1 lakh crore and his family owns 10,000 acres. We will review the sale of lands being done by the BRS government once we come to power.”

The TPCC chief also discussed the Manipur violence. “While Manipur was burning, Modi and Shah were electioneering in Karnataka. Instead of stopping the violence, the BJP is only interested in fighting the Opposition using CBI and ED. Modi is behaving like a dictator,” he said, claiming that the country will see better days when the I.N.D.I.A. alliance comes to power.
