Second flood warning in Godavari continues

Villages of merged mandals like Kunavaram, Chinturu, Velerupadu, Kukunoor and V.R. Puram continue to remain in flood waters

KAKINADA: With flood waters continuing at the 14.80 feet level at Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage, authorities are continuing the second level flood warning.

Water levels are, however, receding at Kunavaram with floods in Sabari and Pranahita rivers abating.
Villages of merged mandals like Kunavaram, Chinturu, Velerupadu, Kukunoor and V.R. Puram continue to remain in flood waters. Pointing to the situation, villagers say state government should treat their villages as coming under 41.5 contour and extend to them relief and rehabilitation packages immediately.

Water is continuing to flow over causeways in areas like Ayinivillilanka, Vedurbidium, Mukteswaram, Kedari Lanka, Arigerivarilanka, Kanakayalanka, G. Pedapudilanka, Bodasakurru and Appanapalli in Konaseema district. Kunavaram sub-inspector Venkatesh headed the team that supplied essential commodities to people in the rehabilitation centre at Kothulagutta.
