Reprieve for Bhagiratha officials

The pumping main was integrated to the grid of Gadwal segment and was functioning satisfactorily for the last six months.

Hyderabad: The Mission Bhagiratha department has dropped action against officials who were accused of committing irregularities in the execution of the Comprehensive Water Supply Scheme (CPWS) in Gadwal, Mahbubnagar district.

The specific charge was that they had allowed the contractor to used a different kind of pipe than the one specified Engineer-in-Chief, rural water supply and sanitation (RWS&S), Hyderabad, said a committee was constituted for a detailed investigation into the scheme. The committee in its report said the contractor had accepted responsibility and replaced the glass reinforced polyester (GRP) pipeline with a ductile iron (DI) pipeline at his own cost.

The pumping main was integrated to the grid of Gadwal segment and was functioning satisfactorily for the last six months. The committee said the officers be let off with a warning.

The officers are: B.Srikanth, then executive engineer, RWS&S, Gadwal; then deputy executive engineers M. Anjaneyulu, K. Vijaya Kumar, T. Mega Reddy, Ch. Benson, and J. Basheer Miya.
