Chennai: 150 sovereigns of gold stolen from doctor’s house

Chennai: A city doctor lodged a police complaint that nearly 150 sovereigns of gold was stolen from his locked and empty house in Valasaravakkam on Tuesday. According to police, Thangadurai (57), an Ayurveda doctor, has a house on Sridevi Kuppam Main Road in Valasaravakkam.

He also ran a clinic in the neighbourhood. Police said that on Tuesday he lodged a complaint with Valasaravakkam police that thieves had broken into his locked house from the back door and robbed 150 sovereigns of gold jewellery kept in a bureau. He told police that he was staying at his house in Madurai where he runs a clinic when the incident took place.

Police registered his complaint and began inquiry. However, they were taken by surprise when they visited the spot. They found that the house had been locked for a long time. Police registered a case and are checking whether the complaint is genuine.
