5,000 dengue cases reported in Bengaluru this year

Each of the 50 wards has been provided with four persons to carry out spraying and fogging.

BENGALURU: A whopping 5,006 cases of dengue have been reported across the city since January this year.

During a review meeting held on Wednesday, Mayor Gangambike Mallikharjun said additional volunteers will be posted at 50 wards which has recorded high dengue cases. East zone, Mahadevapura and South zones have recorded the highest number of dengue cases.

About 200 volunteers have been posted to these zones to create awareness about dengue breeding and measures to be taken to contain it.

Citizens have been asked to keep the water containers closed to check the breeding of mosquitoes that cause dengue.
