YSRC MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy drops hunger stir plans
Nellore: The ongoing probe into cricket betting scam took a new turn after Nellore Rural YSRC legislator Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy threatened to go on an indefinite fast in front of the office of Nellore SP, demanding the name of the legislator involved in the illegal activity be revealed. A news report alleging that notorious cricket bookie Krishna Singh had paid Rs 40 lakh to a YSRC legislator through another YSRC leader B. Srikanth Reddy forced Mr Sridhar Reddy to make the demand.
He said that people suspect that he is the legislator in question since Mr Srikanth Reddy is his close follower. Meanwhile, police sources rejected the news report that claimed that a YSRC legislator had received money. Krishna Singh is among the 27 bookies held by police recently. Police detained Srikanth Reddy a few days ago and he is out on bail now. He has reportedly told the police about Krishna Singh’s connections with politicians.
In this backdrop, the police took Krishna Singh and a few others, languishing in Nellore Prison, for another round of questioning on Saturday and he allegedly claimed that he gave Rs 40 lakh to a legislator. Though Mr Sridhar Reddy declared that he will go on indefinite fast till his name was cleared, he dropped the plan after meeting the SP.
