Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Women’s Commission will seek the permission of Assembly Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan this week to question Mr P.C. George MLA on his alleged derogatory statements against women.
The KWC has already taken a suo motu case against Mr George for his comments in connection with the actor assault case and the Speaker has been informed of it.
She said in a statement here on Monday that KWC director V. U. Kuriakose had given a letter to the Speaker on the issue. The commission was bound to take action when it gets a complaint. The commission has received legal advice on moving against the MLA, she said.
However, Mr George, in a Facebook post, flayed Ms Josephine and said he is a law-abiding citizen and that the attempts to portray him as anti-feminist would not succeed.
“I’m not someone who stays away from people or avoids the media. The feminists must visit my native place and the people will tell them everything,” he said.
He added that he is proud of the Constitution and would not be afraid of anyone other than God.
He asked Ms Josephine to first visit Vypeen and addresses the grievances of the women who were assaulted by the police. “Josephine need not teach me any lessons and I don’t care for the lessons on good conduct from the feminists,” he said.
He ridiculed the Vanitha Commission’s move to take a case against him for making the alleged derogatory remarks about the actor who was abducted and harassed in Kochi. “I will appear before the commission at my convenience,” he said.
