C V Anand gets top police medal, Telangana Excellence Award

Hyderabad: Mr C.V. Anand, the commissioner of the civil supplies department, received two pieces of good news on Monday. He was selected by the Centre as a recipient of the coveted President's Police Medal for distinguished service, and by the state government as a recipient of the TS Excellence Award for improving the efficiency of the public distribution system.

Mr A. Balakrishna, the Additional DCP of Metro Rail Ltd, was selected for the President’s Police Medal. Eleven other officials from the across the state have been selected to be honoured with Indian Police Medals. DGP Anurag Sharma congratulated the winners and said, “I trust you will continue to put in the same dedicated service.” Chief Minister K. Chan-drasekhar Rao selected four All-India Service officers to receive the TS Excellence Awards.

 

Besides Mr Anand, IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kum-ar who heads the  Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society, Ms Vakati Karuna, commissioner of the health who oversaw the ‘KCR kits’ programme to encourage institutional deliveries, and IFS officer Md Shafiulla, who ran minority residential scho-ols, have been selected for their outstanding service. The officers will be felicitated by Mr Rao on Tuesday, on the occasion of Independence Day, at Golconda Fort.
