24.5 lakh pilgrims take the holy dip in Krishna river

Officials now allow buses carrying pilgrims to reach PNBS.

Vijayawada: As many as 25 lakh pilgrims took holy dip by 3 pm of Sunday in the state, according to the data released by the Chief Minster's Office.

The release said that on Sunday, 24,55,908 took the holy dip in the three districts namely Krishna, Guntur and Kurnool by 3 pm.

The officials said that from last three days in the state a total of 40,74,473 pilgrims took the holy dip in the River Krishna. The officials are expecting number to increase further in the coming days.

The rush has been gradually increasing after the police eased restrictions. The officials are also allowing buses to reach PNBS in Vijayawada, unlike in the first two days.

In fact, the police did not allow any private vehicle into the city on the first day of the Pushkaralu. However, they have been allowing the lorries also to go on the National Highways from the second day onward.

Meanwhile, about 1,30,000 pilgrims visited the Goddess Kanakadurga temple located on atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada on the banks of Krishna River, according to the temple officials. They said that more than one lakh laddu Prasadam were sold apart from the Pulihora and other Prasadam.
