Kadapa Municipal Corporation takes up Rajiv Marg beautification
Kadapa: Works to beautify Rajiv Marg began here as part of Kadapa Municipal Corporation’s steps to improve the road condition at a cost of Rs 3.85 crore.
The road, which was 20 feet in width before 2004, was developed just ahead of the 2005 mayoral elections. However, the enthusiasm was lost soon thereafter as no one cared to maintain its condition, despite the danger it posed to motorists and pedestrians. Although tenders for road development with an estimate of Rs 3.85 crore were called in 2020, they were later canceled due to technical reasons. This year’s tender saw the work going to Venkateswara Constructions Company.
Apart from a move to have 40 feet width on either side of the divider, there are proposals to construct a walkway, service road and sewerage system over a seven-metre stretch.
The 725-metre road will be developed from railway station road to Erramukkapalle. The landscape will include plants along the route and a beautified walking-track.
