Quota in medical college for government school students in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: Students of government schools would be given a 7.5 per cent reservation in medical college admission in the State from next year and those studying in private schools under the RTE would also be eligible for the quota.

This was one of the decisions reportedly taken at the Cabinet meeting of the state government, which was held for an hour on Tuesday evening.

All Ministers of the government other than the four who are in hospital attended the meeting, according to sources. Those who could not make it to the meeting were K P Anbalagan, Sellur K Raj, Thangamani (all of them suffering from Covid-19) and C V Shanmugham.

Giving permission for six companies, which were prepared to invest more than Rs 5000 crore each in the State, to start business was another decision taken at the meeting.
