Tamil Nadu moves bill for new panel to fix private school fee

The government had brought the Act in 2009 to regulate the collection of fee in private schools.

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government on Friday introduced a bill to amend the Tamil Nadu Schools (Regulation of Collection of Fee) Act, 2009 after forming a committee for the purpose of determining the fee for private schools.

The Bill moved by School Education Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan said a a retired high court judge would be nominated after consultations with the Chief Justice of Madras High Court to bring necessary amendments to the act.

The government had brought the Act in 2009 to regulate the collection of fee in private schools. It empowered the state government to form a committee for the purpose of determination of fee for admission to any standard or course of a study in private schools.
