Tamil Nadu: Facilities to be improved at Palani, Samayapuram temples

Minister Sevoor S. Ramachandran said a modern building would be constructed with seating arrangements for devotees.

Chennai: HR and CE minister Sevoor S. Ramachandran on Friday announced two new schemes at a cost of Rs 17 crores to provide drinking water for the devotees of Sri Dhandayudhapani temple at Palani and Kallalagar temple at Madurai.

Replying to the discussion on demands for grants to his ministry in the Assembly, the minister said a modern building would be constructed with seating arrangements for devotees who wait in long queues for darshan at Samayapu-
ram Mariamman temple.

He said 18 temples including Vridhachalam Vridhagiriswarar temple, Nellaiyappar temple and Kasi Viswanathar temple at Tirunelveli would be renovated at a cost of Rs10 crore.

The annadhanam halls at eight temples including Sennimalai Subramania Swamy temple, Varadarajaperumal temple at Tirunelveli and Amirdhagadeswarar temple at Nagapattinam would be expanded.

Seven temple cars including those for Aranganatha Swamy temple at Vandavasi, Aadhikesava perumal temple at Boodhamangalam and Vanjinadha Swamy temple at Tiruvarur would be renovated, he said.

The minister said an additional icon protection centre would be built at Tiruvanaikaval Jambugeswarar Agilandaswari temple.

Temple ponds would be desilted and renovated at six temples including Sholingur Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple and Aadhi Kailasanathar temple temple at Tuticorin. Commerical complexes would be built at Agatheeswarar temple in Vettavalam and Balamurugan temple Rathnagiri.

A new thar road would be laid to Mailam Subramania Swamy temple and Panjamirdham would be provided to all devotees attending Sayaraksha pooja at Palani Dhandayudhapani temple.
