Hyderabad High Court stays GO refusing prosecution of cop
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has stayed a GO issued by the Telangana state government refusing permission for prosecution of an inspector who was caught by the Anti Corruption Bureau.
Justice C. Praveen Kumar was dealing with a petition by S. Narasing Rao challenging the GO issued in 2015 refusing permission to prosecute Y. Venkat Reddy, former inspector of Vanasthalipuram of the city, for the charges against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The petitioner told the court that the ACB had registered the case against the inspector based on his complaint. He said that after completing its investigation, the ACB had sought permission from the state government to prosecute the inspector by filing the charge sheet.
The judge found fault with the authorities in rejecting the permission overlooking the prima facie evidence in the case and pointed out that the GO was issued with “non application of mind”.
While staying the GO, the judge adjourned the case.
State told to list steps taken to implement G.O.
The Hyderabad High Court on Friday asked the TS government to explain to it about the steps taken to implement a GO issued in 1985 that enables candidates who qualified in vocational courses to compete for government jobs.
Justice C. Praveen Kumar, while dealing with a petition by one E. Bhavani from Mahbubnagar district challenging the inaction of the authorities in implementing the GO, issued notices to the respondent authorities and directed them to file counter affidavits.
The petitioner told the court that the state government had in 1985 issued the GO extending employment opportunity in government jobs to candidates who completed vocational courses in Intermediate.
The judge posted the case to after two weeks.
